The free source for leads you’re not using

What if I told you that you can get leads for free using one source with a little bit of leg work? Would you sign right up and do it? The good news is that statistically, you're already signed up. The source is of course, Facebook. How and Why to use Facebook Groups? No, it is not posting regularly from your business page or taking out ads (although you should be doing that anyway.) The underused source of Lead Generation is Facebook Groups. People flock to groups to find answers to problems and to be a part of a community. You can tap into this by providing answers. For example, if you're a Real Estate Professional, you can join a "Renters Group" in your area and share that you can help the members get their own home. A way of making sure you get those leads in? Give something away for free. Create something of value that can be referenced regularly so your name will always be top...

Are you building funnels?

By now, most local businesses know about Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click Advertising, and Social Media Marketing. What does this usually lead to though? At best, it could mean good rankings on Google and a couple leads? This is the old mentality of digital marketing. Generate a bunch of website visits and leave it at that. I want to take a moment an introduce the concept of Funnels. Funnels take your website from being a piece of your marketing to a part of your sales.  Many small businesses believe that this process is reserved for few with a giant marketing budget. Fortunately, advances in technology have made that thinking antiquated. Now, with a little bit of time investment and a few key pieces of technology, you too can implement a winning funnel that is designed to deliver quality leads to your inbox. Change your Digital Marketing Mindset Long gone are the days of traffic generation alone. In fact, I wrote about SEO for all being irresponsible not too...

Getting More Sales using your website

A couple months back, I wrote a post about some free or almost free WordPress plugins that can help generate leads. This post is a follow up to that insight, and I will share with you the process of taking those leads and turning them into sales. Step 1 is changing your mindset. This isn't the phone book. With the phone book, someone looks up your service, picks up the phone, and calls you when things are going wrong. It is a much more "closer to the sale" type of situation. Not everyone that lands on your site may be that close to making the purchase. So, What do you do about it? One example may be if you were a plumber and people are finding you because they are looking for information on repairing a problem themselves. You may have a blog post that covers some quick DIY repairs that may not even be worth your time. However, couldn't it be the case that...

SEO For All is Irresponsible

It's no secret that I love SEO. I am passionate about it, I am always learning about it. A disturbing yet long standing trend is that SEO Companies will always make the move to get everyone that calls them signed up for SEO services. I am here today to share that this approach is not only self serving, but irresponsible. SEO should be used as a strategy in instances where it can be effective and generate business. Even still, SEO should be performed in conjunction with other traffic generating activities. I make these two statements with two very specific things in mind. Not all services are searched for in mass that would make the effort profitable. For instance, a B2B service provider may not want to consider an "all in" SEO approach because there needs to be other pieces to the decision making process done first. Or, if you manufacture clothing and you are a brand, SEO may not be effective because your options...

A Wealth of Opportunity

This blog post can be thought of as "in conjunction with" the previous post about generating leads for home service businesses. I started today with a bit of an experiment around one keyword specifically. I hopped over to Google and searched for "Roofer Philadelphia." The results surprised me. There was only one local result. The rest were directory sites like Home Advisor, Angies List, etc. While a lot of SEO Companies may buckle and say "You can't beat those guys", I beg to differ. In fact, I will take it up a notch and say that I will use that opportunity to generate leads that you don't have to fight for. At the end of the day, it's mathematics when it comes to winning the Google Game. My job as your Digital Marketing Guy is to discover what it will take and make it happen. As I mentioned above, I want to take it a step further and get the phone ringing for you. It should never stop...

How do you spend your Saturday?

Like Most Business owners, I'm always on. Always thinking about ways I can grow my business and help my clients. I spent my Saturday getting to know the numbers for the digital space, and I was blown away by a few things. The first is that there is absolutely no slow down in sight for how active adults are online. This means that potential buyers for your product are there in mass. With this information of course comes the question... What do I do about it? The key is to put yourself in your customers shoes. What are they using the internet for? Are you marketing to professionals? 25% of adults are active regularly on LinkedIn Are you Marketing to Millennials? Most are active regularly on Snapchat. Do you think it's worthwhile to use Instagram? Pictures with Faces get 38% more likes! This is a new world, with lots of opportunity to get in front of your audience. Most importantly, if you are out there,...

Website Metrics Most Business Owners Ignore but Shouldn’t

I am fortunate that I get to talk to a lot of business owners. A lot of those business owners happily admit that they are investing in digital marketing, but they quickly proclaim "My guy keeps reporting information I don't need!" They are referring to pieces of information like Bounce Rate, Time on Site, and etc. The purpose of this post is to share with business owners WHY you have to look at those metrics and WHY they matter to your bottom line. Of course, I am here to help you decipher this information if needed. Bounce Rate This is one of the key metrics that is going to indicate if your website is resonating with your customers. This will often be a direct indicator if you need to make changes to your site or if everything is going well. Rule of thumb is that you do not want a bounce rate higher than 55%. This will mean that roughly half of your website visitors...

How to Turn More Website Visitors into Customers

How great of a world would it be if every person that came to your website became a customer? Of course, it is highly unlikely, but there are ways you can increase the likelihood of having more people interact in more desirable ways. Let's Get Started First, you have to change your mindset. Your website, unless it's ecommerce, is more like a marketplace instead of a specialty store. Think about a big box department store that has a coffee shop in it. All the people that are entering that big box store really may not have had much intention of having coffee, it's more of an impulse buy. Now, think of a standalone coffee shop. From a conversion perspective, who do you think has a better shot at selling a cup of coffee? Likely, the coffee shop. Now we have to consider what can the coffee shop in the department store do to increase their likelihood of getting that sale. The first thing they will do...

My Favorite WordPress Plugins for Lead Generation

I have been in love with WordPress for a number of years. The ease of use, the robustness of the plugins, and the fact that it created a "CMS for all." There are a lot of themes and plugins that make things complex, which is not what I'll be talking about today. The plugins I will be talking about today are easy to roll out, use, and start profiting from. Here they are, my favorite plugins for Lead Generation: Contact Form 7. Super easy to use and rarely fails. Even if it does, the WordPress community has stood steadfast behind this plugin and kept it updated. There are a bunch of add ons that can further enhance the Contact Form 7 experience. Databases, SMTP Plugins, and more. Mailchimp/Mailmunch. Again, very easy and robust right out of the box. You get nice designs for very effective pop-up moduls and can even segregate signups based on a pop-up or sidebar form. Landing Page Designers. OK,...
